If abortion can be considered murder, can abortion be considered murder in self-defense?

Think about it, when you kill someone in self-defense you are killing them because they threaten your life or they threaten you great physical harm.

During birth a woman%26#039;s genitals are ripped open and she bleeds profusely in what may be the most pain possible for a human to feel. In addition some woman die in childbirth. Thus, there is a threat to her life.

Thus I ask, can abortion be considered murder in self-defense?|||Abortion is not considered murder. The Supreme Court made sure of that.|||When a woman decides to have her unborn baby killed because she feels that it%26#039;s a %26quot;threat%26quot; to her health, then she is a loveless and selfish person. Why? Because she%26#039;d rather live instead of giving her life up so that her baby could live. This is what love is. This is what heroes do/should do: love is the choice to freely give one%26#039;s life up to save another. This is what St. Gianna Molla did not too long ago. She knew that she had a condition that would kill her, but would not kill her unborn baby, so she decided to go through w/ the pregnancy, despite the fact that her doctor opted for her to get an abortion. Well, she died, and her baby lived. Many women who are deciding to abort should look into this saint%26#039;s life and do as she did. Oh, and the baby isn%26#039;t a threat. How could it be a threat if it is defensless and can%26#039;t do anything to harm the mother? Rather, it is the condition/illness in the body that may threaten the mother%26#039;s life, not the baby.|||Yes. I think if someone feels that they have to call it murder, then they do also need to recognize the fact that carrying a child and giving birth are both dangerous activities. Being pregnant is one of the highest risk factors for women to be murdered under the conventional definition, as a matter of fact. So - yes - abortion would be murder in self-defense, People on here are just looking for reasons to punish women who have abortions, rather than punish their partners for making them pregnant as well.|||There has to be strong evidence that the person%26#039;s life was at stake.

Many women do have abortions because they are led to believe and probably with good cause that carrying the child full term will kill them.

That being the case, it was murder, but as you stated it was in self-defense.

Yet, that does not justify those who take the child%26#039;s life for convenience sake.

The fact that having a baby just doesn%26#039;t fit into a person%26#039;s schedule right now is hardly a threat to their life.|||well i consider it murder but the law states that she is killing something thats in her body and women have full control of what they decide to do with their own body.. its like you murder someone in your property because you felt threatened you wont be convicted because he was trespassing so yes having an abortion is kinda like self defense because the woman isn%26#039;t ready or just doesn%26#039;t want it|||Women%26#039;s genitals are not ripped open.

The cervix dilates quite naturally.

Please know what you are talking about next time.|||There is no such thing as murder in self defense

Kp|||%26lt;%26lt;If abortion can be considered murder, can abortion be considered murder in self-defense?%26gt;%26gt;

No. No, it can%26#039;t.

%26lt;%26lt;Think about it, when you kill someone in self-defense you are killing them because they threaten your life or they threaten you great physical harm.%26gt;%26gt;

You are ignoring the fact that the innocent party is being assaulted - by delierate action.

That is why the assailant is morally culpable, and why the innocent party is right to use force in self-defense.

An unborn baby is not assaulting, by deliberate action, anyone. It is the mother who is threatening the life of the unborn baby by abortion. The innocent person in the above paragraph is capable of defending him/herself.

The innocent party in abortion: unborn baby, is being threaten - by deliberate action, with abortion, and is unable to defend him/herself.

Tell me, why is there a need for the mother to %26quot;defend%26quot; herself against the defenseless?

%26lt;%26lt;During birth a woman%26#039;s genitals are ripped open and she bleeds profusely in what may be the most pain possible for a human to feel.%26gt;%26gt;

The human race has a 200,000 years long history of giving birth that way; almost all of that without organized healthcare, hospitals - and pain killers.

I%26#039;ve witnessed the birth of two children, seen the blood, seen the pain - but also seen how %26#039;part of the process%26#039; it is.

Bleeding and pain, in and of themselves, are not necessarily life threatening. So this does not constitute sufficient cause for abortion - even by your own standards.

%26lt;%26lt;In addition some woman die in childbirth. Thus, there is a threat to her life.%26gt;%26gt;

Very, very few, women die in childbirth. Even fewer with PROPER medical care. In most cases, a complication that threatens the life of both mother and baby can be corrected via surgery. In most of those cases, the complications happen late enough in the pregnancy when the baby can be surgically removed and placed in ana incubator; thus leaving mother and baby perfectly safe.

Even in the face of life-threatening complications in pregnancy, the odds of dying as a result of slim, certainly not enough to justify abortion on demand.

%26lt;%26lt;Thus I ask, can abortion be considered murder in self-defense?%26gt;%26gt;

No, it can%26#039;t.
